Why "no auto-apply" is the right product decision.

AppliedToday is the only AI job-search product in 2026 that refuses to click submit on your behalf. This is the case, with receipts, for why we made that call.

Receipt 1 — Sonara has a bimodal Trustpilot distribution.

As of July 2026, Sonara carries a 4.1 Trustpilot score with 80+ reviews. The distribution is sharply bimodal: people who never check the response rate leave 5-star reviews. People who log in to find their applications never landed leave 1-star reviews. Independent reviews cite asilent-failure rate between 25% and 40%. The candidate pays for 100 applications; they get 60.

Receipt 2 — LazyApply's Trustpilot is 2.3.

LazyApply (10K+ users, $99–$999/yr) carries a third-party Trustpilot of2.3 out of 5. Common complaints: captcha bans, account lockouts from Greenhouse boards, refund disputes, applications silently rejected by ATS. The product ships; the deliverable doesn't.

Receipt 3 — The category-wide pattern.

Reddit r/cscareerquestions and r/jobs threads consistently report candidates who used Sonara or LazyApply for a season, burned a brand with a target employer, and then spent months recovering their candidacy. TheBusiness Insider "420 applications, zero interviews" featureis the most-cited artifact.

Receipt 4 — ATS systems auto-reject the bot pattern.

Modern Greenhouse, Lever, and Workday boards have anomaly detection. Same resume. Same cover letter. Same submission time. Same fingerprint. The bot-applied submission gets a lower ATS score than the same resume hand-submitted the next morning. The candidate never knows.

What "review-first" actually means.

AppliedToday drafts the cover letter, scores the JD, and fills the answer kit. The user reviews the draft, edits anything that's wrong, copies the answer, and pastes it into the actual form. We never see the submit click. The candidate retains ownership of the application; the ATS sees a human fingerprint; the recruiter sees a real answer, not a hallucinated one.

Cost: two minutes per application.Yield: the candidate stays a candidate at every company they apply to.
